London, New Reception
The requirement of the Press Association’s new reception was to offer a more modern design and better use of the existing tight space.
With no additional space available to relocate the existing reception it had to stay open and operational during the day so the works had to be carefully phased and segregated, maintaining a safe route to a reception desk, the lifts and stairs. It also had to be completed in a very strict £250,000 budget.
Skyline Green undertook the design works to keep the costs as low as possible and created a complete new layout plan allowing the removal of their existing awkward lobby space and replacing it with a revolving glass door.
The design also incorporated a new nine-screen feature media wall, new reception desk, new porcelain flooring, new security pass gates – relocated to a new position – levelling of their existing varying ceiling with a new flush MF ceiling, new energy efficient LED ceiling lighting, new hidden fluorescent skirting lights on mirror skirtings to give a ‘floating floor’ effect, over cladding of all the walls with a modern paint finish and sprayed MDF feature panel finish and new signage. We also had a new fully DDA compliant bespoke reception desk built and relocated to a new position to allow the new media wall to become the focal point of the space.
Skyline Green have completely transformed our tired looking reception into a bright and modern space that has lifted the building and the staff. It is also now a far more functional area. The team did a fantastic job taking into account that we needed to keep a functional reception operational throughout.
